Time With God
Always be full of joy in the Lord; I say it again, rejoice! Let everyone see that you are unselfish and considerate in all you do. Remember that the Lord is coming soon. Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7 (TLB)
For many years Belinda Jo "B.J." Mathias, from Mississippi, thought her quiet time with God required at least an hour. And for years she did her very best to make that hour of quiet time happen every day. But suddenly her life seemed busier than ever and much more complicated. So at the very time B.J. needed to be at prayer, she was dismissing it because she did not feel she had that hour to spare.
Recently B.J. came to realize how wrong she was! If her calendar was full to overflowing, a few moments alone with God were much better than none at all. Those few quiet moments changed her whole outlook on a busy day. The quiet solitude not only allowed God to speak to her but also allowed B.J. to listen to God, if only for a few moments.
B.J. embraces those precious hours as often as possible and rest humbly before God in gratitude and praise. She does her best to make those times happen. But when they don't, a few precious moments in the presence of God can be rich nourishment for her soul on a busy day.
Prayer: Dear God, help us to make the most of every moment with you. Remind us to put you first, regardless of our daily schedule, in Jesus' name. Amen.
