God Is Good

Hallelujah! Yes, praise the Lord! Sing him a new song. Sing his praises, all his people.

O Israel, rejoice in your Maker. O people of Jerusalem, exult in your King. Praise his name with dancing, accompanied by drums and lyre.

For Jehovah enjoys his people, he will save the humble. Let his people rejoice in this honor. Let them sing for joy as they lie upon their beds.

Adore him, O his people! And take a double-edged sword to execute his punishment upon the nations. Bind their kings and leaders with iron chains, and execute their sentences.

He is the glory of his people. Hallelujah! praise him ! Psalm 149 (TLB)

Enid Adah Nyinomujuni is from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. When she went through a difficult time, it was hard for her to understand what God was doing in her life. Everyone else seemed happy except Enid. She asked many questions: Why won't God answer my prayers? Why do others have their heart's desires when I am living for God? Why doesn't God love me? What have others done for God that God has been so good to them?

Enid started to believe that God did not love her, and she became frustrated and depressed. It took her many years to recognize God's goodness in her life and all the ways that God has blessed her.

Enid began to see that while things were not going the way she wanted them to go, God was still working for good. Finally she began to trust in God and understand that God shows goodness to each of us in different ways.

We may not understand why bad things happen to us or why God does not give us what we ask for and think we need. When we question God's goodness, we can pause to think of all our blessings. This practice can help us realize that God has been good to us and will continue to be.

Prayer: Dear God, open our eyes to see your goodness to us, in Jesus' name, amen.

Praise the Lord with singing! How I miss this choir and singing together!
