God Is Faithful

O Lord, from the depths of despair I cry for your help: "Hear me! Answer! Help me!"

Lord, if you keep in mind our sins then who can ever get an answer to his prayers? But you forgive! What an awesome thing this is! That is why I wait expectantly, trusting God to help, for he has promised. I long for him more than sentinels long for the dawn.

O Israel, hope in the Lord; for he is loving and kind, and comes to us with armloads of salvation. He himself shall ransom Israel from her slavery to sin. Psalm 130: 1-8 (TLB)

From the south comes the rain; from the north, the cold. Job 37:8 (TLB)

Dzhulustan Petrov lives in Siberia, Russia. He belons to the Evenki nation who live in Central Siberia. As a result of Christian missions in their village, Dzhulustan and his wife both decided to follow Christ in the early 1990s. Ever since, they have been active as Christian missionaries in their area and Artic regions. They have gone on mission trips along the Lena River and planted churches in several communities.

One winter, Dzhulustan visited distant villages with a group of fellow Christians. They drovw 3500 km in very cold weather - the temperature was -63degrees C. On a desolate road far from any villages, their vehicle's engine died. They knew that once the engine cooled down, it would be impossible to start it again at such a temperature. They had no time to think; their survival was at stake.

Dzhulustan started to pray, knowing that God was with them and aware of their situation. Without a clear plan in mind, Dzhulustan disconnected the fuel hose and pumped air into the fuel filter using the air hose. After reconnecting the hoses, the engine started again, and they made it to the next village. Hallelujah! They have often faced dangerous situations in their ministry, but God has always been faithful.

Prayer: Dear Lord, when we find ourselves in danger, help us to put our hope in you, in Jesus' name. Amen.
