God Hears Our Cries

Read Romans 8:22-30

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought. but that very Spirit intercedes with signs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:26-28 (NRSV)

Cindy Lee lives in England. Her heart hammered in her chest and turmoil swirled inside her because her father was in the hospital. However, attending a prayer gathering at her church with Christians from a variety of denominations and being surrounded by believers and God's loving presence was comforting. All of them were at different stages in their personal journeys with Jesus, but they all had hope and faith. Cindy found the readings, thoughts, and messages inspiring, even though there was a knot of worry inside her. When it was time to offer prayer requests, Cindy desperately wanted to ask for a blessing for her dad; but if she were to speak, she knew her sadness would overcome her. Cindy felt powerless and voiceless.

One of the parishioners who knew of her situation smiled at Cindy, then stood up and prayed, "We ask God to protect the sick and hospitalized who are suffering and need healing - and we ask God to help those who are caring for them." Tears filled Cindy's eyes. Overcome with gratitude, she felt peace filling her soul. Her loving heavenly Father had heard her cry and allowed someone else to give voice to her need.

Prayer: Loving Father, thank you for listening to us and surrounding us with your love, in Jesus' name. Amen.
