All My Might
Read 2 Chronicles 20:13-22
They rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, O Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God and you will be established; believe his prophets. When he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise him in holy splendor, as they went before the army, saying, "Give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever." As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an abush against the Ammmonites, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed. 2 Chronicles 20: 20-22 (TLB)
Catherine Kwao lives in Greater Accra Region of Ghana. On the last day of the school term, Catherine went to her daughter's class. The teacher had turned on a radio to entertain the children. Most of them were sitting and swaying their little bodies to the music. Then a very popular Christian song began to play, and the children jumped up froom their desks. Gleefully they began singing along and dancing in unison. They all knew the dance moves for that particular song.
Catherine was fascinated as she observed how one song could immediately change the atmosphere from calm to full of energy. Catherine thought about the power of music and how in 2 Samuel 6:14-16, David "danced before the LORD with all his might" as he brought the ark of the LORD to Jerusalem. Catherine also remembered how Jehoshaphat appointed popele to sing and praise the LORD, which changed the outcome of the battle they were facing. (See 2 Chron. 20:21)
From that day forward, as Catherine offers her praise to God each day during her prayer time, peace and assurance flood her soul. She feels God's presence and sees God acting in her life whenever she worships through songs of praise. This thought keeps her joyful throughout the day and gives her assurance that God is always with her.
Prayer: Dear God, help us to appreciate the importance of glorifying your holy name. We sing our heartfelt gratitude to you, in Jesus' name. Amen.
