Trust in the Lord
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. in those days when you pray, I will listen. You will find me when you seek me, if you look for me in earnest.
Yes, says the Lord, I will be found by you, and I will end your slavery and restore your fortunes, and gather you out of the nations where I sent you and bring you back home again to your own land.
Jeremiah 29: 11-14 (TLB)
Lei Cao Garcia-Bote is from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Soon they will send their beloved dog Marley to their parents' house. Lei's husband was given a new international assignment by his employer, so they will be moving and cannot take Marley with them. It is hard sending her away, but they are comforted to know that Marley will be loved by her parents and all the other family members who live near them. While Marley doesn't have any knowledge of her future, they are preparing everything in her best interests.
Lei realized that, just like Marley, she is loved and her parent in heaven is preparing everything for her. While it is still hard for Lei to leave the comfortable life they have in their own country, she can step into uncertainty knowing that God is with her. We may not always understand why things happen the way they do. Sometimes, all we can do is trust and obey God.
Through caring for her beloved dog, the Lord has shown her a piece of God's heart. God is so good! We cannot fully grasp God's love for us, but our Creator wants us to understand that we are loved and that God cares about our future.
Prayer: Dear Lord, when we cannot understand the things that are happening, give us strength to trust and obey you, in Jesus' name. Amen.
