Time with Christ
The following day as John was standing with two of his disciples, Jesus walked by. John looked at him intently and then declared, "See! There is the Lamb of God!"
Then John's two disciples turned and followed Jesus.
Jesus looked around and saw them following. "What do you want?" he asked them.
"Sir," they replied, "where do you live?"
"Come and see," he said. So they went with him to the place where he was staying and were with him from about four o'clock that afternoon until evening. (One of these men was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.)
Andrew then went to find his brother Peter and told him, "We have found the Messiah!"
And he brought Peter to meet Jesus. John 1:35-42 (TLB)
Mihiri de Silva lives in Sri Lanka. Her job requires her to interact with many people, and that demands a lot of patience. Mihiri constantly has to keep in mind that the Lord has called her for this purpose, and therefore it is her responsibility. Because a project she was working on was nearing completion, the workload on a particular day was heavy. Mihiri was continually faced with questions from others. She felt no peace within her, and she was agitated.
During that week, Mihiri was reading John 1 where Andrew was looking for the place where Jesus was staying. Jesus' reply to Andrew in John 1:39 challenged Mihiri. At the end of her reading time, she paused and asked herself,What am I searching for? During this time, the Holy spirit reminded her that she should stop and rest at the feet of Jesus, so Mihiri spent some time in meditation. This quality time she spent with Christ bless Mihiri with calm and renewed her faith. The peace in her mind enabled her to think clearly, and she saw how to address the issues at work. This experience reminded her that when she spends time meditating on God's word, she can find peace that surpasses understanding.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, amid all our responsibilities, guide us to spend time at your feet and listen to your voice, in Jesus' name. Amen.
