This will be a Sign

Read Matthew 1:18-25 - Joseph is visited by an angel in a dream.

"Don't be afraid!" he said. "I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone! The Savior - yes, the Messiah, the Lord - has been born tonight in Bethlehem! How will you recognize him? You will find a baby wrapped in a blanket, lying in a manger!" Luke 2:10-12 (TLB)

Barb Sanders, from South Australia, was recently diagnosed with a rare genetic disease that has severely affected her heart, and she is now in heart failure. Barb needs monthly infusions in the hospital and often feels drained after these treatments, Her busy lifestyle has been turned upside down. Her future is uncertain, but it is in God's hands.

Sometimes we may feel alone or vulnerable and in need of an extra sign of God's presence. While reading her daily devotions one evening after her monthly infusion, Barb came across these words, "Today may you be infused with God's comfort and love." The following day an amazing rainbow filled the skies around her.

Surely these were both signs of God's never ending provision, peace, and comfort available to us all. When we keep our eyes and hearts open, we will see the signs of "God with us" every day.

Prayer: Dear God, we thank you for the assurance that you walk beside us every day. Help us to rely on you no matter what challenges we face, in Jesus' name. Amen.
