The Power of Water

Read John 4:1-15 - Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well and tells her about "living water".

For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water shall flow from the inmost being of anyone who believes in me." John 7:38 (TLB)

Susan G. Walters lives in Kentucky. On a recent trip with friends to a nearby lake, Susan visited a beautiful waterfall. She was able to hear it even before she could see the falling water plunging into the lake below. They anchored their boat and began to swim toward the waterfall. The force of the water, the sound, and the coolness didn't scare Susan. She swam with confidence to the waterfall, letting the water hit her on the head, neck and shoulders. Her friends were smiling, and they stayed near the waterfall for quite some time, allowing the cool water to refresh them in the heat of the day.

That majestic waterfall reminded Susan of God's love, power, and constant presence. Jesus offers us Living Water. He quenches our thirst and fills us with his love until it overflows from us to others. This water satisfies like no other and fills the soul.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we want to be filled with your living water so that we may be refreshed and share your love with others, in Jesus' name. Amen.
