Pray all the time. Ask God for anything in line with the Holy Spirit's wishes. Plead with him, reminding him of your needs, and keep praying earnestly for all Christians everywhere. Ephesians 6:18 (TLB)
Connie Downs lives in California. Late one evening her husband became very ill and started bleeding. They rushed him to the hospital. After their very long wait, her husband was finally admitted for further treatment. On her way home, she found herself waiting in line at a traffic stop where police were checking for drunk drivers. As the line progressed, Connie wondered, "Why tonight? Why now?"
When it was her turn, the officer asked if she had been drinking. Connie replied, "No, I've just come from the hospital." Hearing that, his demeanor changed, and he asked if everything was all right. Connie replied, "I hope so." Then he asked if he could pray for her. Connie immediately agreed, and he offered up a wonderful prayer. He didn't know the circumstances, but his words were just what she needed to hear. At that moment, they found themselves linked together as two disciples sharing God's love.
The next morning, Connie's husband was discharged from the hospital. The health challenges that followed were difficult, but they knew that they were in God's loving hands.
We too are in God's loving hands, but still He loves to hear us pray, especially for each other.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for the honor of praying for others. Help us to be aware of the needs of those around us, in Jesus' name, amen.
