Read Exodus 25:8-30 - the building of the Tabernacle
"This home of mine shall be a tent pavilion - a Tabernacle. I will give you a drawing of the construction plan, and the details of each furnishing." Exodus 25:9 (TLB)
Shirley Brosius lives in Pennsylvania. She couldn't imagine how the tabernacle looked by simply reading the instructions God gave Moses in the book of Exodus. But after seeing a life-size reproduction of the tabernacle Shirley understood how the frame, coverings, and curtains fit together. Seeing a model helped her understand the instructions God gave Moses.
In the same way, seeing real-life examples of Jesus' parables helps Shirley understand his teachings. She sees the tenacity of the persistent widow (Luke 18:1-8) lived out in a small group as she hears a parent pray for a wayward child year after year. She sees the compassion of the good Samaritan (see Luke 10:30-37) lived out in the care local ministries offer to those who need food or shelter.
And when Shirley personally became involved in service activities, she gains even deeper understanding. Then she feels blessed for being a blessing. That's why she contributes to ministries that help people around the world and why she teaches, leads, and works to reach her community through her local church. By seeing, we understand. And through serving, we experience and show others what scripture means.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the many blessings you have given us. Help us to bless others by sharing our faith with them and caring for them, in Jesus' name. Amen.
