Quilt of Blessings

Thank the Lord for all the glorious things he does; proclaim them to the nations. sing his praises and tell everyone about his miracles. Glory in the Lord; O worshipers of God, rejoice! Search for him and for his strength, and keep on searching! Psalms 105:1-4 (TLB)

When he (Barnabas) arrived and saw the wonderful things God was doing, he was filled with excitement and joy, and encouraged the believers to stay close to the Lord, whatever the cost. Acts 11:23 (TLB)

Katherine Turk lives in Wisconsin. Her dear friend Barb makes quilts out of old T-shirts that carry special memories for their owners. One day while Katherine was visiting her, she showed Katherine a quilt she had made for her son that highlighted his high school sports. When Katherine told her of all the T-shirts she had saved over the years, she graciously volunteered to make a quilt for her. Katherine was thrilled and gratefully accepted. She finally had a purpose for all the old T-shirts that meant so much to her and held so many memories.

As Katherine gathered the shirts, she realized that they all reminded her of the blessings God had given her throughout her life. She now has the T-shirt quilt on her bed, and what a joy it is! Every evening and morning as she gets in or out of her bed, she reviews the T-shirts and thanks God for her many good friends and loving family who helped her make all those memories. Katherine has found that giving thanks to her heavenly Father is a joyfully gratifying way to mark each day.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for daily reminders of the blessings you have given us. Thank you for bringing us comfort and showing us your love, in Jesus' name. Amen.
