Promises In Uncertainty
Your steadfast love, O Lord, is as great as all the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your justice is as solid as God's mountains. Your decisions are as full of wisdom as the oceans are with water. You are concerned for men and animals alike. How precious is your constant love, O God! All humanity takes refuge in the shadow of your wings. You feed them with blessings from your own table and let them drink from the rivers of delight.
For you are the Fountain of life; our light is from your Light. Pour out your unfailing love on those who know you! Never stop giving your blessings to those who long to do your will. Psalm 36: 3-10 (TLB)
Adam Weber is from South Dakota. When the future seems uncertain and Adam doesn't know what he can hold on to and trust, he finds it helpful to remind himself of three of God's promises from scripture.
First, God's love is constant. Our jobs, statuses, and relationships can change in a moment. But when life gets hard or we mess up, God is there showing us limitless and unfailing love.
Second, God's protection is certain. Psalm 36:7 reminds us that God is our shelter and refuge. No matter the storm, God will protect us and faithfully remain by our side. We can always hold on to God.
Third, we can count on God's provision. Jesus tells us that we don't have to worry because out heavenly Father knows our needs and will provide for us. (See Matt. 6: 31-33.) For Adam, God's physical and spiritual provision have always been there.
Though life might not always be great, God is faithful to God's promises. Amid changing circumstances, we can hold on to these promises from our unchanging God.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for your promises to us. Help us to hold on to your faithful presence when we face uncertainty, in Jesus' name, amen.
