Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
We know that all things work for together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
Romans: 8: 26-28 (NRSV)
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18 (NRSV)
Keren Philips lives in Karnataka, India. She was going through a difficult situation. The thought of recent events made her so scared that she could barely sleep. Every morning she woke up feeling weak and fearful just thinking of her problem. For a while she pretended that everything was all right, but that hurt her even more. She was desperate for a shoulder to lean on so she could cry out her fears and seek guidance. That's when she realized that she could pray to God.
So each day Keren knelt down to pray. Each time she would immediately start crying because the situation was too overwhelming for her to speak of. She did this for many days, and she started to feel better. Eventually she was able to tell God what had happened and how she felt. Though her pain didn't completely go away, she realized that the fear didn't rule over her anymore.
Today Keren realizes that every problem she has encountered has made her trust and rely on God more. By praying continually, she found relief from her fears. No matter how bad life gets, we can always pray to God, "the author and finisher of our faith" (Heb. 12:2, KJV).
Prayer: Dear God, help us remember to pray and to trust you no matter how bad life gets for us, in Jesus' name, amen
