Palm Sunday

Read Colossians 1:7-12 - Paul and Timothy pray after Epaphras gives his report on the people in Colosse.

For God is at work within you, helping you want to obey him, and then helping you do what he wants. Philippians 2:13 (TLB)

Lorraine Baldus, from Michigan, enjoys needlework. She begins with a blank piece of material, and she starts placing the colorful stitches according to the pattern. It doesn't look like much at first, but as she continues to work, a picture emerges. Sometimes she puts stitches in the wrong place. Then she has to take them out and try again. Lorraine keeps going until she has a completed work of art.

When we embark on our journey with Christ, we have no idea what to expect. We are like that blank piece of material waiting for a beautiful picture to take shape. As we continue our journey, the purpose God has for each of us is gradually revealed. We begin to see the work of art we are to become.

Discerning God's will is not always easy. Some of us might get a glimmer of it early in our journey and begin pursuing it. Others of us may need to take a few steps back or rethink our direction before we understand God's plans.

God has a purpose for each of us. We can trust that God's plan will take shape throughout our lives as our relationship with Christ grows. We can all be confident that God is working in us.

Prayer: Dear God, help us to be hopeful and patient as we seek your plan for us, in Jesus' name. Amen.
