Jesus replied, "The Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing, and in the same way. For the Father loves the Son, and tells him everything he is doing, and the Son will do far more awesome miracles than this man's healing. He will even raise from the dead anyone he wants to, just as the Father does. and the Father leaves all judgement of sin to his Son, so that everyone will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. But if you refuse to honor God's Son, whom he sent to you, then you are certainly not honoring the Father.
"I say emphatically that anyone who listens to my message and believes in God who sent me has eternal life, and will never be damned for his sins, but has already passed out of death into life." John 5:19-24 (TLB)
Mary E, Webb lives in New Mexico. After she received several requests to participate in ministries and projects that she felt were not in keeping with what God had called her to do, her friend,Ann, encouraged Mary to write a mission statement. Mary thought mission statements were only for corporations, but with Ann's encouragement Mary wrote three points that she felt were key to the work God had called her to do. Now when people urge her to get involved with their projects, Mary is able to use her mission statement to help her decide whether they fit God's assignment for her.
Similarly, Jesus had a mission. Jesus said, "I can do nothing on my own....I seek to do not my own will but the will of him who sent me." Although few people understood Jesus' mission , he remained focused on the work God gave him.
Like Jesus, we are all on assignment. If we don't know our assignment, we can ask, and God will guide us. When we know our assignment, we can remained focused on our mission.
Remember that if Jesus did nothing without asking His Father then who are we to do any less?
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for entrusting us with assignments while we are here on earth. Help us to remember to always check in with You so we can remain focus, in Jesus' name, amen
