Making a Way
See, God has come to save me! I will trust and not be afraid, for the Lord is my strength and song; he is my salvation. Oh, the joy of drinking deeply from the Fountain of Salvation!
In that wonderful day you will say, "Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the world about his wondrous love. How mighty he is!" Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things. Make known his praise around the world.
Isaiah 12: 2-5 (TLB)
In January, Michael Kimmel, from Texas, made the difficult decision to leave his job. After completing his paralegal certification in February, Michael began looking for a job, sending out application after application. He felt like something good would happen soon; but it didn't.
Michael had great interviews and gained valuable experience, but he still found himself without a job. As time wore on, Michael felt as though God had abandoned him. He was stepping out in faith and applying for positions everywhere he could, but none of the doors on which he was knocking opened. Seven months later, however, God answered his prayer and opened a door for him at a lumberyard in the town where he lived.
Today's reading reminds us that we can trust God and that we should praise God's glorious work in the world. Working at a lumberyard wasn't the job, Michael was hoping for, but he praises God for making a way for hm. When God does something incredible and delivers us into a new season, we can praise God and share God's goodness with everyone.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for making a way for us when there seems to be no way forward. Help us to trust in you as we wait, in Jesus' name. Amen.
