Live Confidently
Read John 6:54-69
And he remarked, "That is what I meant when I said that no one can come to me unless the Father attracts them to me."
At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him.
Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, "Are you going too?"
Simon Peter replied, "Master, to whom shall we go? You alone have the words that give eternal life, and we believe them and know you are the holy Son of God." John 6: 66-69 (TLB)
Juan Gattinoni lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Every evening before he goes to sleep, his thoughts turn to the Lord as he meditates on Psalm 4:8. In this frame of mind, Juan goes to sleep with ease. Some of his peace of mind comes from safety he has created for himself: a secure house, insurance, and savings for unexpected expenses. But to truly live with confidence, Juan needs something he can't procure on his own. Confidence can't be purchased. It is a gift from God.
That is why Juan can sleep in peace, knowing that God will give us the gift of tomorrow and that tomorrow will take care of itself. God promises that even when problems seem insurmountable, nothing is impossible for God. Emotionally and spiritually, Juan can find rest because he trusts in the Lord's promise. This peace is a gift from God - a gift that allows us to move forward each day and live confidently.
Prayer: Almighty God, you are all-knowing, and your words reassure us. Show us how to live confidently and faithfully according to your teachings, in Jesus' name. Amen.
