Healing Through Christ

How grateful I am and how I praise the Lord that you are helping me again. I know you have always been anxious to send what you could, but for a while you didn't have the chance. Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to get along happily whether I have much or little. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of contentment in every situation, whether it be a full stomach or hunger, plenty or want; for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power. Philippians 4:10-13 (TLB)

Remigio Angelo Dingashe lives in Northern Cape, South Africa. As Remigio writes this, he is 11 months into his journey to sobriety. It has been a difficult pathway with many challenges, but he is encouraged by Philippians 4:13. These words aid him in his recovery from addiction and empowers him in his daily activities. Believing in the power of Christ makes all the difference. Although his circumstances overwhelm him at times, Remigio gains strength from Christ.

There was a time when Remigio thought that things would never improve, and he would have to abuse substances for the rest of his life just to cope. But Christ has given him the confidence to stay committed in his recovery and seek the spiritual, physical, and psychological healing he needs. Remigio knows that he would have remained in the bondage of addiction if he had not had Christ as his source of strength. When we fix our minds on Christ and believe that through him all things are possible, it may not be easy, but Christ will strengthen us to push through.

Prayer: Dear God, help us to see you at work in all things. Increase our faith in your providence, in Jesus' name. Amen.
