Goodness and Mercy
Please read Romans 8: 8-31
And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans.
For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to him - and all along he knew who would - should become like his Son, so that his Son would be the First, with many brothers. And having chosen us, he called us to come to him; and when we came, he declared us "not guilty," filled us with Christ's goodness, gave us right standing with himself, and promised us his glory.
What can we ever say to such wonderful things as these? If God is on our side, who can ever be against us?
Romans 8: 28-31 (TLB)
Mateus Francisco is from Luanda, Angola. For 11 years. Mateus worked in the province of Huambo, Angola, as pastor and superintendent for a group of churches in his area. In 2017, he was appointed to the province of Luanda, and this change created some inconveniences for his family. His children needed to transfer from their current schools to ones closer to their new home. With the help of some brothers in Christ, they were able to get transfers for two children. But it was not easy to find a third transfer.
One morning in Mateus's prayer time, he was worried. His son said, "Daddy, have faith; God did not forget us." God heard his prayer, and later that day they found a third school transfer opportunity.
Mateus's son gave him a lesson in faith and hope. When we are with God and believe in God's goodness and mercy, we can wait without worrying. As today's quoted verse reminds us, "All things work together for good for those who love God."
Prayer: Beloved God, teach us to trust in you and to stand firm with faith and hope in all circumstances, in Jesus' name, amen.
