God's Garden

Read Psalm 104:27 -35

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will praise God to my last breath! May he be pleased by all these thoughts about him, for he is the source of all my joy. Let all sinners perish - all who refuse to praise him. But I will praise him. Hallelujah! Psalm 104: 33-35 (TLB)

"My true disciples produce bountiful harvests. This brings great glory to my Father." John 15: 8 (TLB)

Jane Rager is from Virginia. This year Jane and her husband decided to turn their little-used back deck into a container garden. It is working beautifully. Jane is overjoyed by the brilliant colors of the flowers, the fragrance of the herbs, and the lush green of the vegetables. Each plant is beautiful on its own, but together they display the beauty of God's handiwork. Jane has found great pleasure in tending this new garden and learning what each plant needs. Some need more water than others, some need more space to spread out, all need regular fertilizing for nourishment, and all need occasional pruning.

As Jane works in her garden, she thinks of how God cares for each of us. God gives us space to grow and provides living water to keep us vibrant, and God nourishes us with scripture and prunes us when necessary so we can grow and be more fruitful. God knows just what we need. We each are beautiful in our own way, but together we are truly God's garden.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the loving care you provide each and every day. Help us to grow and bloom as your disciples wherever we are planted, in Jesus' name. Amen.
