Counting My Blessings

Let the peace of heart which comes from Christ be always present in your hearts and lives, for this is your responsibility and privilege as members of his body. And always be thankful.

Remember what Christ taught and let his words enrich your lives and make you wise; teach them to each other and sing them out in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing to the Lord with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, and come with him into the presence of God the Father to give him your thanks. Colossians 3:15-17 (TLB)

It was yet another ordinary day, and Joseph Costa, from Malta, did not want to get out of bed. He got ready for work, feeling unmotivated and thinking how monotonous life can be. On the drive to work, he turned on the radio and heard news of recent unfortunate events.

In that moment, Joseph realized that being able to wake up in the morning and go to work was a blessing. Even though life is not always easy and anything can happen, each day should be cherished. On that morning, Joseph understood the importance of counting his blessings, appreciating life, and expressing gratitude for God's daily guidance.

Joseph arrived at work feeling renewed, knowing that his work was his calling to serve others. Reflecting on the good that came from his day's work, it was easier for him to understand his journey in life and what he was meant to be and do. Now Joseph begins each morning by offering thanks for all God has done in his life and trusting God will always be with him.

Prayer: Dear God, help us not to take our blessings for granted and to trust in you always, in Jesus' name. Amen.
