Called to Write

Read Revelation 1:9-20

It was the Lord's Day and I was worshiping, when suddenly I heard a loud voice behind me, a voice that sounded like a trumpet blast, saying, "I am A and Z, the First and Last!" And then I heard him say, "Write down everything you see, and send your letter to the seven churches in Turkey." Revelation 1:10-11 (TLB)

One afternoon, Ayub Simanjuntak, from West Java, Indonesia, was feeling exhausted after the work of teaching primary school online from home during the pandemic. Suddenly, today's scripture verse echoed in his mind: Write whatever you see.

Ayub didn't consider himself a writer, so he was particularly struck by this thought. He kept pondering the meaning of this verse, and deep inside he felt that God was calling him to do something - Ayub just didn't know what it was.

As Ayub prayed and asked the Holy Spirit for guidance, he felt reassured. He shared his experience with his wife, and she encouraged Ayub to obey God's call. So he did. He started by writing down his experience of following Jesus in a country where Christians are in the minority and shared his writing on his blog and with other publications. To his surprise, people started to read his words and told him they had been bless by his writing.

From this experience, Ayub has learned that the Holy Spirit can work in any situation. God will always find a way to spread the good news of Christ.

Prayer:Dear Jesus, thank you for speaking to us and guiding us in the way we should go. Open our ears to hear your voice, in Jesus' name. Amen.
