Be Not Dismayed
Shall I look to the mountain gods for help? No! My help is from Jehovah who made the mountains! And the heavens too! He will never let me stumble, slip or fall. For he is always watching, never sleeping.
Jehovah himself is caring for you! He is your defender. He protects you day and night. He keeps you from all evil, and preserves your life. He keeps his eye upon you as you come and go, and always guards you. Psalm 121 (TLB)
Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10 (TLB)
B. Beauchamp, from Texas, woke up on a January morning in 1996 to find her husband of 32 years having a seizure. That morning her world collapsed.
After being in intensive care for two months, he was sent to a rehab center where she was trained to be his caregiver in their home, It took two weeks of full-time care for her to realize that this plan was not sustainable. B. remembers sitting on her sofa exhausted and feeling like a bird in a cage.
B. began calling a list of caregivers, bu it seemed everyone was either unavailable or too expensive. Finally, a young woman said she could help her and would charge an amount B. could afford. She came over that day and allowed B. to est.
B. did not get the miracle of healing for her husband that she prayed for each day; her husband died about a year later. But God was with her through it all. While her life changed forever that one January morning, God has led B. through more than 20 years of being a widow. However, B. knows that she is never alone with God by her side.
Prayer: O Emmanuel, thank you for hearing our prayers and walking alongside us. Thank you that we are never alone, in Jesus' name. Amen.
