Always on Time
Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call upon him now while he is near. Let men cast off their wicked deeds; let them banish from their minds the very thought of doing wrong! Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy upon them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon! This plan of mine is not what you would work out, neither are my thoughts the same as yours! For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours, and my thoughts than yours.
As the rain and snow come down from heaven and stay upon the ground to water the earth, and cause the grain to grow and to produce seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry, so also is my Word. I send it out and it always produces fruit. It shall accomplish all I want it to, and prosper everywhere I send it. You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills, the trees of the fields - all the world around you - will rejoice. Where once were thorns, fir trees will grow; where briars grew, the myrtle trees will sprout up. This miracle will make the Lord's name very great and be an everlasting sign [of God's power and love]. Isaiah 55:8-13 (TLB)
Trust the Lord completely; don't ever trust yourself. Proverbs 3:5 (TLB)
Say Amen lives in Gauteng, South Africa. In September 2017, his job contract came to an abrupt end. He was devastated and felt hopeless. How would I find new employment when companies were wrapping up business for the year? How would my family survive? Who would come to our rescue? Say had no backup plan, and he thought it would be impossible to find a job in the last quarter of the year.
While Say was pondering his next move, he believes God gave him the thought to visit his wife's sister. After staying with her for a couple of days, Say felt another prompt to visit a local school he had seen. With his CV in hand, Say went to see the principal.
Say got the surprise of his life when the principal told him that a business teacher was about to go on maternity leave, so they needed a temporary teacher. Say was tremendously relieved! Was it just by chance that he traveled to visit his sister-in-law and went to this school? I think not. When Say could not see a way forward, God never left his side. God had made arrangements well in advance for him.
Prayer: God of all wisdom, teach us not to fret when our plans fall apart. Remind us always to depend on your wisdom. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
