A Place for Us

Read Ephesians 2: 14-22

For Christ himself is our way of peace. He has made peace between us Jews and you Gentiles by making us all one family, breaking down the wall of contempt that used to separate us. Ephesians 2:14 (TLB)

See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for he allows us to be called hos children - think of it - and we really are! But since most people don't know god, naturally they don't understand that we are his children. 1 John 3:1 (TLB)

Josey McChesney lives in Missouri. For most of her life, she has struggled with anxiety. She piles up stresses for herself, and she thinks of life like she's running a race with a goal of winning something - good grades, athletic achievement, or being the best at her favorite activities.

In high school, one such goal was to fit in. This goal turned out to be unachievable for several reasons. Her limited finances, transportation, and dislike of texting conversations made her unfit to join the group she wanted to be a part of.

At the time, she didn't recognize that even though she struggled to fit in in high school, she was already included in an even more important group: God's family. This family did not have earthly requirements like the group in high school. This family only needed her love, faith, and belief in the greatest good of all. It does not matter to God where we are from, how much money we have, or if our life is perfect on the world's eyes. God cares and has a place for every one of us. This promise gives me comfort and a new appreciation for my wonderfully unique and diverse family.

Prayer: Dear God, help us to realize that we are your family and that is what matters most, in Jesus' name. Amen.
