A New Life
O Lord, our God, the majesty and glory of your name fills all the earth and overflows the heavens. You have taught the little children to praise you perfectly. May their example shame and silence your enemies!
When I look up into the night skies and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you have made - I cannot understand how you can bother with mere puny man, to pay attention to him!
And yet you have made him only a little lower than the angels, and placed a crown of glory and honor upon his head.
You have put him in charge of everything you made; everything is put under his authority: all sheep and oxen, and wild animals too, the birds and fish, and all the life in the sea. O Jehovah, our Lord, the majesty and glory of your name fills the earth. Psalms 8:1-9 (TLB)
At 11:30 a.m. on December 28, 2021, Jaiprakash D. Roy, from Gujarat, India, suddenly started sweating, and he knew that he needed to go to the hospital. His family members called his eldest son who was on duty at the hospital to come and pick him up. At that time, hospitals were crowded, and it was difficult to see doctors there; but Jaiprakash met with a very capable doctor who diagnosed him with two blockages in his heart. They made an immediate decision to preform an angioplasty and open the blockages with two stents.
The surgery was successful. Jaiprakash was kept in the ICU for one day and in a special observation room for another. On the evening of the third day, he returned home completely recovered. He is convinced that the living God gave him a new life.
The life he is leading today is a living witness to the words of the psalmist, "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me." Through his experience that day, Jaiprakash has seen the full promise of the Lord who stayed with him all the time and walked with him through the valley. Jaiprakash thanks the Lord for giving him new life.
Prayer: Merciful God, increase our faith. Help us to believe that you are ready to take care of us and help us when we pray to you, in Jesus' name. Amen.
