Read Psalm 8: 1-9
For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before-hand to be our way of life. Ephesians 2:10 (NRSV)
Denise L. Armstrong lives in Ohio. For the past few years, she has been studying how to paint with oils. At first, the technique was overwhelming. However, Denise was beginning to feel more comfortable with each new painting.
To begin any new work of art, Denise needs an idea, brushes, oils, and a blank canvas. Lately, she starts by tracing a photograph and painting the background colors. Little by little, the artwork comes alive - and hopefully resembles the photo too.
It takes time and patience to create a finished product. This process helps her to understand the attention and care our Lord has taken to create each of us. God is the master artist. Scripture says that we are God's handiwork - not a duplicate but an individual masterpiece. We are fearfully and wonderfully made and remade by our faithful Creator, who knows our innermost being. With God as our painter, we are called to rejoice at the beauty within ourselves and others.
Prayer: Dear God, you are the Master Creator with an eye for detail. Help us to see each individual and ourselves with your eyes, in Jesus' name. Amen.
