Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake their way. and the unrighteous their thoughts; let them return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55: 6-9 (NRSV)
Oluwasola Jegede, from Lagos, Nigeria, is a publisher of a devotional book. The printer for their book notified them that they didn't have enough funds for the 1,000 copies they had planned to print. Still sure the book would come out, Oluwasola took some time to thank God. He had no idea where the money would come from, but he just kept meditating on God's word. At around ten the next morning, a friend sent the exact amount needed to complete the printing. Truly whatever God promises, God will do.
As our reading says, God's ways are different than ours (v.8) so God's way of planning might be different from my way. He would have planned to have the printing funds two months earlier, but God chose to supply my need on the very day he needed it. Just when he was exhausted with his own ideas, God made a way.
God is always faithful. Whatever God promises will come to pass.
This is true even now. This too shall pass and God will keep His promises. Sometimes He does like to wait until the last minute - I believe to test our faithfulness. Remember that The First UMC of Gulfport is closed till, at least, April 13th.
Prayer: Dear God, help us to believe your word and to see you as our true God in every step we take, in Jesus' name, amen.
