Do you find it difficult to trust? So many times people, on purpose or accidentally, do, or say, things that ruin our trust in them. Once trust has been betrayed, it is very difficult to restore it. But there is one whom you can always trust, and that is God, our heavenly Father. I often think of the movie "Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade" when I think of trust. There is a scene where Indiana Jones has entered a cavern and has to go thru a series of steps of faith to reach his goal - The "Holy Grail" or the cup Jesus used during the last supper. He finally gets to an opening where he can see a room filled with all kinds of cups but there is a huge chasm separating him from the other side. It looks as if there is no way to get across. The door-frame is too small to allow a running jump and the distance is too far and the drop is endless as you can't see the bottom. But Indiana Jones believes and you see him raise his leg and slowly steps out into nothingness. His trust is in God that there is a way even though he can't see it. Sure enough, as his foot comes down, the camera changes angles and you can dimly see a ledge that expands across the chasm, and Indiana Jones edges his way across. This scene is forever stamped in my mind as a perfect example of trust in God; not knowing but trusting that God has it under control.
However, come to church on February 11, 2018, at 10:30 AM, and hear what Ken Blackman has to say about trust in God. I look forward to seeing you there. God bless!
