Honesty in Prayer

Read Psalm 139:1-6 The psalmist wrote, "Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely." Psalm 139:4 (NIV) Adam Weber, from South Dakota, shared his thoughts on prayer. When he stopped to think about it, one of his favorite psalms felt a bit scary. In Psalm 139, David talks about how God sees everything and is everywhere. God sees us when we wake up and when we're going from here to there. and then David says this: "Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely." God knows everything Adam ( and us) is thinking and everything he is going to say! Isn't that a beautiful and terrifying thing to know? Even though God knows all the unspoken words within us, sometimes it'

Names

"The Lord said, 'See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.' ' Isaiah 49:16 (NIV) Have you ever been out and about and run into someone that You should know but you just can't remember their name? So many times someone will call my name out and I know I should know their name but I only recognize their face. It can be very embarrassing to say the least. Aren't we lucky that we have a God who is not only our friend but has engraved our name in his hand? I marvel that while I struggle to recall the name of a few hundred acquaintances, God invites all 7.6 billion people on this earth to be His close friends! He knows every hair on their heads; He knows each by name. My prayer is that

The secret is in the procedure. You will need: Raw chicken parts, any type you want. Vegetables cooking oil (not olive oil). Pastor uses Crisco; I would suggest Coconut. The following spices: a little salt or none at all, black pepper, leaf Basil, and nutmeg. You may want to experiment with other spices as well. All Purpose Flour. To begin: 1) Pour cooking oil into a frying pan large enough to hold the cut up chicken parts. Oil should be about one (1) inch deep, a little more if very large pieces. 2) Heat oil over med

Look Forward

Philippians 3:10-14 " I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death. If somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own, but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus." (NRSV) Bobbie Roper, from Florida, relates how she and her husband, Jim, enjoyed a well-cared for vegetable gard

Praise God Continually!

Acts 16:22-31 "The crowd joined in attacking them, and the magistrates had them stripped of their clothing and ordered them to be beaten with rods. After they had given them a severe flogging, they threw them into prison and ordered the jailer to keep them securely. Following these instructions, he put them in the innermost cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was an earthquake, so violent that the foundations of the prison were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were unfastened. When the jailer woke up and saw the prison do
