Why Pray?

From the book: Lists to Live By Why Pray? 1. We are commanded to pray. For example, Jesus said we are to pray at all times and "not to lose heart" (Luke 18:1), and we are told to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer should define our lives. 2. Through prayer we meet with God and experience a relationship with Him. What an unspeakable honor to come boldly into the presence of the Creator of the universe! One vehicle for this is praise. The Scriptures tell us that God inhabits the praises of His people (see Psalm 22:3). 3. In prayer we have the opportunity to confess and repent of our sins to God and have a clean conscience. In John 1:9 we are told, "If we confess our sins, He

Trust

Do you find it difficult to trust? So many times people, on purpose or accidentally, do, or say, things that ruin our trust in them. Once trust has been betrayed, it is very difficult to restore it. There is a scene where Indiana Jones has entered a cavern and has to go thru a series of steps of faith to reach his goal - The "Holy Grail" or the cup Jesus used during the last supper. He finally gets to an opening where he can see a room filled with all kinds of cups but there is a huge chasm separating him from the other side.

He is Able

From the book: Lists to Live By He is able to do, for He is neither idle, nor inactive, nor dead. He is able to do what we ask, for He hears and answers prayer. He is able to do what we ask or think, for He reads our thoughts. He is able to do all that we ask or think, for He knows it all and can perform it all. He is able to do more than all we ask or think, for His expectations are higher than ours. He is able to do much more abundantly than all that we ask or think, for He does not give His grace by calculated measure. He is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, for He is a God of superabundance.
