The official Purpose of the United Methodist Women:
"The organizational unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose Purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as a whole person through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church."
United Methodist women have been organized in mission for 135 years! We put our Purpose into action at First United Methodist Church of Gulfport with programs, open to all women, on the 2nd Tuesday of the month (Sept. to May) at 10 a.m. Bring a sandwich. Dessert and beverage will be served.
In the past we have given financial support to many projects, made "Ditty Bags" and filled them with school supplies or personal care items for Farm Workers, held Mission Studies, etc. Each May 1st, some 30-40 fruit filled May Baskets are delivered to shut-ins.
